back up?

The feeds from this site have been down lately.

Sorry!

I figured out one of the problems last night and restarted the feed for Multnomah. I’ll restart the others once I actually fix the problem.

I’m also thinking about unabashedly stealing every triple-eye catalog I can find, then aggregating a list of what libraries are buying/accessioning. Won’t that be fun?

I updated the feed script to support both http and https links for holds. It turns out that Multnomah was the the only one that required https.

obtuse searching

This search engine doesn’t care.

http://stealthislibrary.com/feed/San Francisco/fiction

Will match

  • fiction
  • science fiction
  • nonfiction
  • fictional

It will not match

  • fictitious
  • friction
  • farm animals

Or any materials that haven’t been cataloged by either the library you are searching (in the specific edition on order) or the library of congress (in any edition).

I seeded Peninsula Library System and fixed an error that was causing 30-40 records a day to be skipped.

who?

April 21st, 2006

my name is caleb and i’m a librarian. i’m also a library patron, and i use rss feeds. i’d like the library to offer rss feeds of new acquisitions, but it’s out of the scope of my job to make it happen. so, i’m making it happen on my own time as a citizen and patron.

why not share it with the world? perhaps if enough of us use rss feeds for library acquisitions, libraries will be convinced that they should provide them - i’m sure whatever the library can put together would be better than what i’ve hacked together here.
